  1. What’s the history of The Hundred as a driver of women’s cricket? It’s a big selling point now, but I don’t recall that being the case at The Hundred’s inception. After all, it was first mooted roughly contemporaneous to the KSL starting. Was there a conscious decision at some point to make the women’s game a bigger part of The Hundred’s raison d’etre?

If all of us here are doing our very best to promote the interests of women’s cricket, and I think I can safely assume most of us are doing that, then annoying people wouldn’t be the best policy. And it’s safe to assume that there would indeed be some annoyed spectators if they had to take an afternoon off work to watch Hundred double headers simply because they didn’t know whether the men’s or women’s match would come first. However, I wonder if there is more that could be done to reduce the time between the two matches in these double headers? I’ve attended Blast double headers in the past and this wait between the matches really does drag, with the plan being for a 75 minute gap, and it’s even longer if the women’s match doesn’t go the distance. Perhaps more could be done to look at whether the men could warm up on the nursery grounds or elsewhere in an attempt to reduce these gaps. The current arrangement involves being at the ground for a solid 8-hour stint and I just get the feeling you’d need to already be a committed supporter of women’s cricket to attend for that, when in fact what we are trying to do is convert people to women’s cricket.
