  1. Thanks guys for another good episode. About the Surrey-Somerset game. I thought that was quite a controversial DLS target to be honest, in the 33 overs a side reduced game.

You’d have thought Somerset would have been facing a target higher than Surrey made, as the latter faced 3.1 overs thinking they had 50 to bat. But the timing of the wicket they lost was everything. Smith b Anderson 1, effectively won it for Somerset as that meant their target was 238 not 246 (which it would have been if Surrey were 0 down at the rain interruption).

It’s difficult to rationalize the logic of the reduced target interruptions in DLS, and it’s certainly showing its age, as most sides wouldn’t care much about losing an early an early wicket or two if the run rate’s good. Too much weight put on lost wickets.
