I’m good with Ecclestone as player of the series. Expectation is always sky high when she steps up and she delivered consistently. That has to be rewarded in my view, lest we take her brilliance for granted. Very close run thing with Kate Cross for me though. Yes Raj did something special no doubt, and as Hartley said so precisely on TMS “we’ve all been slagging her of all week but she’s got her team over the line”. There’s performance and then there’s impact though, and her great performance with the bat didn’t have a series winning impact.
Everything about the Hundred feels like someone trying to sell me an odd life-hack that I don’t need or particularly want. I feel like I’ve done my bit anyway – bought tickets, persuaded non-crickety friends to come along but still feel slightly strong-armed into it ‘In service of women’s cricket!!!’ rather than genuinely excited about it myself tbh.
