Can’t help feeling that this end of an era is a downgrading for women’s elite level domestic cricket, as the teams become even more low-key and play second fiddle to the men. International and franchise cricket will dominate the women’s game. We have already seen that few top level players are willing to risk injury or failure on the domestic scene. England used to lament that county cricket was not good enough to challenge the top players. We are heading back to exactly the same situation we had 10 years ago, when they decided it had to be changed. Progress?
