Nice rant at the end, and so, so true (speaking as a fellow journo – thankfully in a still profitable area (health – but each time we write a negative story on big pharma, I fear add money going…)
Unfortunately the horse has largely bolted on this. People simply don’t value journalism, they are now too used to free content online. Even many who do still value the concept of journalism won’t pay for it. And large swathes or society are now actively anti-proper independent journalism. It’s a mess.
