  1. Great roundup guys, as always. The amateur theatre with the tie was epic.
    But please never, ever say the ICC wouldn’t do something (anything) because it’d be ridiculous to do so. I kind of associate the ICC with the ridiculous and stupid.
    Great points about Sophie Devine. It’s actually unforgivable that a leading sport in a wealthy country like NZ isn’t professional. They risk losing players to netball, hockey, rugby, which all have improving financial offerings.
    In an ideal world there should’ve been 2 NZ teams in the WBBL.
    You’re spot on about a certain robotic stodginess being the main threat for Australia. 2017 did show their lack of a plan B, and the batting to Kasparek was, shall we say, interesting.
    I think the other weakness is a potential lack of batting depth if 2-3 of the current top 6 lose form or suffer long-term injuries. Outside a couple of similarly aged former internationals, I dont think there’s a depth of genuine international class replacements at state level.
    Bowling is well covered, batting not so much.
