At the risk of sounding like a broken record; how about a Series ½ point penalty for slow play (whether batting (ie deliberately wasting time) or bowling (over rate)) – that would focus the minds of the captains a bit. It won’t stop teams batting a game into a boring draw but it would (likely) ensure we get more cricket.
    To make it more fruity, such penalties are disclosed to only the offending team during the match (who then have a bigger incentive to win it) whilst the opposition would not be informed (this is required to avoid incentivising the opposition into going to a bore-draw) and only made public after the match.
    The actual result of the Test remains unchanged (a draw would still be a draw even if a team incurred the Series ½ point penalty).
    Just throwing the idea out there for sake of debate (it will never be adopted!).
