The CRICKETher Weekly – Episode 96

This week, we’re asking questions:

  • Can South Africa win the World Cup without Dane van Niekerk?
  • Can Scotland triumph in the Commonwealth Games Qualifier?
  • Can England beat Australia (and Covid) in the Women’s Ashes?
  • And why the heck wasn’t Amanda-Jade Wellington included in Australia’s Ashes squad?

  1. It’s hard to see how England have much hope of getting the Ashes back unfortunately. The Covid situation, lack of decent prep in Aus and the last-minute changes to the schedule only make things harder for our girls. Seem to have been designed to optimise Australia’s chances. The main hope of picking up points (T20s) are now first up before we can get used to conditions. Hey-ho. All we want to see really is some spirit and fight, which will be expected and, in fairness, is usually delivered from this England team. And maybe a win or two to avoid the capitulation of the last women’s Ashes, and the sorry show from the men’s team. Good luck to them come what may!
