The expansion of regional cricket will make things very difficult for the remaining handful who don’t have pro contracts? Surely it’s now impossible to commit to the matches, training and travel required and work a traditional 9-5? Besides the pros, regions might now be restricted to students and those already working in the cricketing world? The increased number of regional matches will surely not kill off county cricket but will change its role, as county cricket will become the place to look out for the future regional stars?
