  1. About Aus and the semi-final, the frightening thing is your concerns about the Aus team selection are still kinda valid – they’re not looking at their best, particularly in the field. I have a feeling there’s room for improvement.

It’s still not ideal having SM as captain, and no King in the side. PL is still looking a bit too “show-offy” and not hanging around long enough, and they still have too many all rounders and not enough specialists. The Aus bowling is still a concern – with too much choice, would you believe – because all-rounders are more likely to have an off day with the ball. This means Aus continually having to try 6, 7 or 8 bowlers to see who’s at their best on the night.

No one knows who’s going to get 3 or 4 overs. Take SM and AG going for about 12 an over against India. That’s not ideal. In the meantime, and in the process of that discovery, damage can be done by the opposition. I’m not saying that makes up for the gap in skill, but it’s a risk that other teams can try to exploit. The inclusion of more solid options like Hamilton has mitigated this a bit, but I still feel that Aus bowling selections are very much reactionary to who gets targeted.
